Fintech Plans to Expand the EU Mobile Payments Revolution Abroad

One of the most successful mobile payment businesses in the EU is beginning its global expansion with the audacious goal of revolutionizing cardless transactions throughout the region.

Blik, a partnership between six Polish banks and MasterCard Inc., claims to have 13 million monthly users, the most of any competitor in Europe. In order to make money off transfers, it partakes in e-commerce, capturing 70% of domestic transactions last year.

According to Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, the CEO of Polski Standard Platnosci Sp zoo, the business behind Blik, the startup that competes with apps from Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, the startup wants to develop into a payment system usable throughout the EU.
