Intesa Sanpaolo introduces contactless payment ring

Intesa Sanpaolo is introducing a wearable payment ring that customers can tap and pay with at the checkout. The Swedish fintech Tapster created the ring, which the Italian bank is rolling out in partnership with Mastercard. According to the bank, the shockproof wood and ceramic ring “utilizes an integrated NFC chip for basic functions, like credit card payment, and does not require any battery charge or internet connection to get into operation.”

“The wearable is shipped with a QR code that can only be activated by the cardholder, who must authenticate using the Intesa Sanpaolo Mobile app.
