MasterCard offers a new biometric solution that will eliminate passwords

MasterCard is trying to consign passwords to the past with a new biometric authentication service.

MasterCard claims that its new service will make it simple for businesses to integrate biometrics for customers to log into apps or websites and make purchases online, more than ten years after the company joined the Fido Alliance. Based on the most recent Fido standards, the service provides access to the relevant application or website through the use of a passkey that is saved on the user’s phone and can only be unlocked using a biometric, such as a fingerprint or face.

According to MasterCard, the technology is more practical than multi-factor authentication and also more safe than passwords.
